Abstract

PURPOSE: To induce a coconut palm albumen callus having a high ability to produce fats and oils in high ratio by culturing an embryonal peripheral site of an albumen tissue of a coconut palm obtained from a fruit harvested in the 6th to the 9th months after pollination in a culture medium containing a plant growth regulator. CONSTITUTION: An embryonal peripheral site of an albumen tissue of a coconut palm obtained from a fruit harvested in the 6th to the 9th months after pollination is cultured in a culture medium containing a plant growth regulator to induce a callus capable of producing fats and oils. Furthermore, Murashige- Skoog (MS) culture medium, etc., are cited as the culture medium and auxins, cytokinins, gibberellin, etc., are cited as the plant growth regulator.
